I have been corresponding with Elaine Zamora, at TNT. She has provided some information on efforts to improve our neighborhood:
There are several efforts going on in the neighborhood right now. The CBD along with TNT-The New Tenderloin is looking at the issue of a Full Service Post Office, and as a result of the Hearing at City Hall we, the community, will be having a meeting with the Postal Service officials, Congresswoman Pelosi’s office, Supervisor Daly and the Mayor’s office to discuss the matter. We are looking the start of a Stay Away Order Project where members of the community can write letters to the Judges regarding particular criminal offenders asking that the Judge impose a “Stay Away Order” that would give the police more enforcement power should that offender return to the neighborhood. There is a “Good Neighbor” policies effort underway to try to address the congregation of chronic misbehaving people around food lines, clinics, liquor stores, etc. We are conducting a survey around that issue regarding free food services in the neighborhood.

Hi,
Stumbled on your TL blog via the SFist.
I’ve been on the board of the NOM/TLCBC for about a year now, so we may have met. Since you live in the TL, you might find my work of interest. If you have time, check out Up from the Deep: The Hotel Project.
Cheers!
