activismintheloin: Bevan Dufty Rocks!!!

Supervisor Bevan Dufty introduced legislation at City Hall on Tuesday to fund Mayor Gavin Newsom’s proposed community court that would largely prosecute drug crimes, theft and disorderly conduct in the Tenderloin and South of Market neighborhoods.

A Board of Supervisors committee blocked the money at a meeting last week. Dufty has the backing of four other supervisors, the number required to pull legislation from a committee for an airing in front of the full board.

The supervisors will take up the proposal June 10 on whether to spend $500,000 to construct two holding cells at the court. — SFGate

Important to note that the two holding cells are required by California State law, one for men, and one for women — as mentioned by Sheriff Hennessey during the May 14 meeting. I was initially confused about the need for the holding cells.
