Bevan Dufty’s motion to bring CJC funding before the full Board of Supervisors (BOS) passed by a 7-4 vote, 6/3/08. The full BOS will meet on June 10, 2:00, legislative chambers, to decide the fate of justice in the Tenderloin.
Wonder who the 4 opposition votes came from — any guesses?
The NOs came from: Supervisors Daly, McGoldrick, Mirkarimi, and Peskin.
SGTV — the footage is at about 2:05

Daly has been on my shit list for some time. His efforts to sabotage the CJC… I’m having a very hard time finding words to express my anger. I was part of the Central City Restorative Justice project from the time of its inception and years of first-hand experience with this pilot project for community courts made it abundantly clear to all who participated that it is an idea that works to the benefit of all. I have met and spoken with Judge Albers and have worked with many of the other people who are stakeholders and proponents of the CJC and I can say unequivocally that all who are involved with this project are people who REALLY care about their community. Chris Daly, on the other hand, has proven that he’s a back-stabbing political hack who doesn’t give a flying fuck about “his” community.
I can’t see the reasoning with this court other than it’s a political grandstand. Newsom hands in a budget proposal of cutting the very services that this court is suppose to furnish. Nothing more than posturing.
Wow all this that I wrote about on the 7th came out at the BOS meeting on the 10th.
You’re right, Jerry, it is grandstanding by Newsom. What you leave out of your assessment is the fact that Newsom had NOTHING to do with the years of hard work and planning behind the CJC, not to mention the Restorative Justice Project, which has proven the effectiveness of community courts, despite a DA who has shown little interest in anything other than furthering her political career.
Do your homework next time, J.
